Drought Tolerant Gardening in Southern California


As you probably know, Southern California is in a drought state of emergency.  According to the California Department of Water Resources, 2013 came to a close being the driest year in history in many areas of California.  We are being urged to conserve as much water as we can.  One easy way to help with water shortages is to plant drought tolerant gardens that don't require much water ... or much fuss.  These plants are still beautiful and come in a variety of shapes, textures and colors.  Some even attract butterflies!

Sunset and Better Homes & Gardens have both compiled a list of drought tolerant plants that are suitable for the Southern California region (as well as many others areas).
